Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back after what I hope was a wonderful half term break.

This half term our topic is ‘The Ancient Romans’ The children were lucky enough to have Mr. Adby from the Partake History company pay us a visit to launch our new topic. The children loved the different activities that he shared with us. I have included a few photos below of just some of the activities the children did!

In our English sessions, we will be working towards producing our own historical stories based on the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD and inspired by ‘Escape from Pompeii’ by Christina Balit.

In our science sessions, we will be further developing our learning about solids, liquids and gases by studying the Water Cycle. For this, the children will plan and carry out their own experiments to investigate the processes of evaporation and condensation before writing their own explanations about how the water cycle works.

A new half term brings a new Christian value; This half term our value is Forgiveness. In RE, we will be studying stories from the Old Testament by learning about ‘People of God’, before considering how our value of forgiveness is shown through the Easter Story.

February marked the end of our weekly school swimming sessions, but we have exciting news; this half term, Mark, the Chance to Shine cricket coach will be joining us each Monday afternoon. On Tuesdays afternoons we will be doing gymnastics in our PE sessions.

Weekly spelling lists and homework activities will continue to be given out every Monday and Friday respectively. We also ask that you listen to your child read at least three times a week.

Please don’t hesitate to come in and talk to me about any concerns you might have about your child’s progress or well-being; I am more than happy to help.

Kind regards,

Miss Wright
