Snapshot of Learning

Welcome to a new and exciting school year!

‘Together we Love, Learn and Flourish’

Over the autumn term we will be focusing on building relationships and developing our confidence in school. This will involve following and joining in with key routines, using and applying our class promises, accessing the classroom environment independently and engaging in new play experiences with enthusiasm and confidence.

Our Class Promises

We are kind and helpful,

We listen to each other,

We try our best,

We are honest and speak politely,

We keep ourselves and each other safe.

As we work and play we continuously embed our five class promises. We encourage children to apply these promises to their play and use the language to help solve simple problems.

We will be using the story 'The Colour Monster' to introduce new vocabulary and to explore the meaning of different feelings. We will be making links to our emotions and experiences, supporting children to recognise and communicate their feelings more successfully throughout the school day.

You can further support by using the vocabulary cards alongside to share and discuss your emotions at home. For example, 'I am feeling calm and relaxed after sharing a bedtime story with you, how are you feeling?'

Through the stories of 'But Martin' and 'The Family Book', we will be celebrating and discussing our similarities and differences as we find out about ourselves and how amazing we all are! We will also use mirrors to explore our faces and draw our self-portraits. To be on display in class soon!

Let's celebrate Harvest!

We will be celebrating and finding out about the festival of ‘Harvest’, as well as using the stories of ‘The Enormous Potato’ and 'Handa's Surprise' to inspire our learning.

We will discuss the theme of being ‘thankful’ in our class collective worship, as well as using some of Gods wonderful gifts this harvest, to make a yummy vegetable soup!
