St Mary's Church is a beautiful and ancient place of worship in the heart of Sherwood Forest.
It is visited by hundreds of tourists annually, who come to see the church where, according to legend, Robin Hood and Maid Marian were married!
The building dates from around 1175, and is still used daily as a place of prayer and worship.
Edwinstowe is a busy village of around 5000 people, with many community organisations and village events. It has a strong mining history, with Thoresby Colliery still in operation on the outskirts of the village.
The church is often open during the summer months, but visitors are advised to phone (01623 822430) in advance if they are coming some distance.
Public worship suspended Sadly due to the Coronavirus the Church of England has suspended all public worship services for the time being. Daily prayers will continue to be said and resources are being made available in print and online to help people worship from their homes. If you have specific prayer requests, want to chat, or have pastoral concerns please phone Rev. Ian WEBB on 01623 824491 or 07763 666069 or email email@example.com.
